There's no place like home...There's no place like home…

Remember when we were all arranged alphabetically? This is what I recall…..

One day in the middle of Sophomore year (sometime August or Sept. ) someone suddenly sat between me (Bea Serrano) and Vanessa Santos.

As far as I was concerned, her name was a dead giveaway. I was so sure, Winnie Santos was a member of the group called "APAT na SIKAT" and that she is the sister of Ate Vi.

We had just finished a class with Ms. Galan (P.E.) and I was getting annoyed with the "new student" as she spoke in a somewhat psuedo-british accent.

She said, "B (as in Bee) Listen to this"..... all in one swift motion sticking the left ear phone into my right ear while sticking the right ear phone into her left ear..... it was the first time I heard the words....

"Don't you worry 'bout the situation ..ah a... the message from the telephone.... we're only fighting for the State of the Nation!...."

Back in the prehistoric days of the ipod... being the nerd I was, I thought it must be some kind of back-masking a Michael Jackson song with hidden evil hypnotic messages!!! The British Pop group Industry was never heard of in Manila at that time.

The Nerve! She brought contraband (a really high tech walkman) to school and she was trying to drag me as her accomplice!!!! Plus, I suffered the rest of the day with LSS (as in Last Song Syndrome) without knowing what to call it then.

Many pounds, years later and after thousands of pesos on therapy.... I finally accepted the truth that those three years sitting next to Winnie did not go to waste and I must confess that she is "the Coolest Seatmate Ever!"

To Winnie, I'm so sorry I never let you copy from my test papers!

Hugs!

Bea
