A Weekend Note From Treena Canapi Appleby

There are few more surprise appearances from us Scholasticans and our "extended families". For today, we have Treena Canapi Appleby. Keep visiting our blog to know what's going on in each others lives :)

Graduating from high school, you would have had this grandeur idea of keeping in touch with your friends no matter what. Then college comes along and you got close with the people who went to the same college, and slowly lost track of others. You start working and all of a sudden, all those friends become just a few cherished handful and what about if you headed overseas?

I did eventually. I left in '98 to further my dreams of exploring the world. I kept in touch with a handful and got close to a few more as I met them along the years.

Oooh, those days of writing 8 pad paper pages (front and back) letters then mailing it, waiting for a response in a few weeks, months even. That was how we kept in touch then.

MSN happened, and all of a sudden it got a lot easier to know that someone's gotten married, had children, got a job, had a hot date, had a horrible date, that jerk of a boyfriend, etc etc! Instant gratification as it was like everyone was just around the corner.

And now? Don't get me started on skype, yahoo, msn friendster, my space, and the mother of it all...Facebook! Ahhh Facebook or FB. Who would have known that after 25 years, all of a sudden, I'm in 'touch' with nearly half of my batchmates. WHO would have known?! And what a great way of communicating, isn't it? You got to love FB!

A few days ago, I got in touch with Magoo and that took me back to high school with a smile remembering her short hair, being 'astig' and socks that were hardly there! hahhahahaa. She didn't even know about the reunion and now may be considering going home, well, because we got in touch in FB.

Suddenly, the handful of high school friends I've kept in touch with over these years became a small community learning more about each other and catching up.

Now, I'm really looking forward on coming home, seeing everybody face to face and celebrating our silver jubilee year, come February 6, 2011.

In the meantime, let's keep each other posted on FB. Sure, some may not be able to make it on feb 6 but hey, you'll soon see the pics on FB ;) and feel like you've been a part of it as well.
